China travel name checks and planning guides
Keep exact names and current official instructions together when planning each part of the journey.
Choose the task that fits what you are trying to understand. Each resource includes an explanation, practical examples and references. For an exercise sheet, try the questions before opening the solutions.
Dong means East, Nan South, Xi West and Bei North, but the complete station name is what you must match. 北京, 北京南 and 北京西 appear as different stations in the official selector. Use the Chinese name beside your booking-system spelling, keep entrance directions separate, and check both station names when planning a connection.
Read the complete departure and arrival stations, travel date, train number and departure time first. Then separate carriage and seat from the station’s gate and platform. A booking screen, itinerary sheet and current departure display have different jobs; a saved screenshot is a memory aid, while e-ticket travel requires the ticket information and the valid identity document used to purchase it. The diagram below is original teaching material, not a usable ticket.
A same-station transfer means the first train’s arrival station and the next train’s departure station are the same complete railway station. It does not, by itself, confirm that you can stay inside, use a particular corridor or reach the next gate in time. Check the current station route, required documents and boarding cutoff before booking, then record a workable alternative. This guide provides questions and planning examples, not a universal minimum connection time.
Read the current passport labels and official entry guide, compare required fields, and check the selected saved passenger and actual order. Keep unusual-name and correction questions unresolved until the appropriate official instructions are clear.
Compare the common six-bunk open bay and four-berth compartment, then check the actual train, berth level, companions, bags, price and allocation. Two original cutaways and two records keep preferences separate from confirmations.
Show the complete station name and dated train, ask one precise question, and confirm the actual answer before moving. Nine bilingual phrases, two check tables, an offline card and seven scenarios help you distinguish navigation, boarding status and ticket options.
Identify the issuing channel and actual ticket first. Check every accidental-purchase condition together; otherwise review ordinary refund timing, special changed-ticket rules and the displayed amount. Worked clocks and rounding examples explain the decision.
Tell railway staff promptly, separate observations from uncertainty and record the actual reporting and follow-up instructions. The official FAQ supports reporting and the food-storage limit; an authenticated online reporting form was not inspected.
A change replaces an existing journey, subject to availability and the ticket’s history. Check the original departure, proposed new calendar date and permitted channel. A railway change charge, fare difference, refund fee on a difference and agency charge are separate amounts; inspect the actual confirmed replacement before travelling.
